As IBEW 1049 dug in and stood their ground against National Grid for a fair contract, NEP assisted on the back end, keeping their website fresh and members informed.
NEP created various assets for Local 1049, including an interactive strike map and social media graphics for members to use online to build public support. NEP also added a countdown clock to highlight Local 1049's seriousness about the deadline for a fair deal.
Additionally, NEP helped Local 1049 communicate with its members, sending out over 50,000 text updates during negotiations.

NEP and IBEW 1249 launched an online petition to rally against job killing cuts in the New York State Senate and Assembly's proposed budgets for 2025. These proposals threatened the job security of nearly 8,800 members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1249, particularly impacting those engaged in transmission work across New York State.
Over 60,000 emails were sent to the Senators and Assembly members. A delivery success rate of 99.6% was achieved. The proposed cuts were eliminated and the IBEW jobs saved.
NEP has been investing in the IBEW, proudly sponsoring and attending numerous IBEW conferences and progress meetings. We've been having discussions with leaders on the technology they need to strengthen their union.
